About This Course
The Japanese Language Course at R.R. Star prepares students for employment opportunities in Japan under the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) visa program and other work visa categories. The course covers JLPT N5 and introductory N4 level content, with a focus on practical communication for daily life and workplace settings in Japan.
Nepal has a growing number of workers and students in Japan across sectors including construction, food service, nursing care, agriculture, and manufacturing. This course provides the language foundation needed to clear visa interviews, pass the JLPT N5 examination, and communicate effectively on the job.
This course is affiliated with CTEVT (Center for Technical Education and Vocational Training), Nepal.
What You Will Learn
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Read and write Hiragana and Katakana fluently
- Recognise and use approximately 100 basic Kanji (JLPT N5 level)
- Hold basic conversations in Japanese for everyday situations
- Understand simple spoken Japanese (instructions, greetings, daily talk)
- Prepare for the JLPT N5 examination
- Use Japanese in workplace contexts: greetings, safety instructions, following directions
Course Curriculum
Month 1 — Script & Pronunciation
- Hiragana (46 characters) — reading and writing
- Katakana (46 characters) — reading and writing
- Japanese phonetics and pronunciation rules
- Basic greetings and self-introduction
Month 2 — Foundation Grammar & Vocabulary
- Basic sentence structure (Subject-Object-Verb)
- Numbers, dates, time, and counting
- Common nouns and verbs
- Family, food, directions, colours
Month 3 — Conversation Practice (N5 Level)
- Shopping, restaurants, transport dialogues
- Asking and giving directions
- Daily routine sentences
- N5 vocabulary list (approx. 800 words)
Month 4 — Kanji & Reading
- 100 fundamental Kanji characters
- Reading simple sentences and signs
- N5 Kanji practice drills
- Listening comprehension exercises
Month 5 — Workplace Japanese
- Greetings and polite expressions at work
- Understanding instructions and safety notices
- Construction, care work, and food service vocabulary
- Telephone and basic written communication
Month 6 — JLPT N5 Exam Preparation & Assessment
- Full mock JLPT N5 tests (reading, listening, vocabulary, grammar)
- Exam strategy and time management
- Review of weak areas
- Final assessment and certificate

Frequently Asked Questions
Is JLPT N5 required to work in Japan? For many SSW visa categories, N4 or higher is required, but N5 is the essential starting point. Our 6-month course aims for N5 completion and strong N4 exposure.
Do you help with Japan visa applications? We provide language training and guidance. For visa and manpower processing, we refer students to licensed recruitment agencies.
Will I receive a certificate? Yes — a CTEVT-affiliated course completion certificate is awarded. This is separate from the JLPT certificate (which is issued by the Japan Foundation).
