About This Course

The Plaster Mason course trains students in the application of plaster, render, and finishing coats on interior and exterior walls, ceilings, and surfaces of buildings.

Plastering is an essential finishing trade in every construction project — no building is completed without it. Skilled plaster masons are in steady demand in Nepal's construction sector and across Gulf countries where large residential and commercial developments are ongoing. This course is affiliated with CTEVT (Center for Technical Education and Vocational Training), Nepal.

What You Will Learn

  • Prepare brick, block, and concrete surfaces for plastering
  • Mix and apply cement-sand mortar plaster
  • Apply internal wall plaster to achieve flat, level surfaces
  • Apply external render and weather-resistant coats
  • Finish ceilings with plaster and putty
  • Apply waterproof plaster in wet areas (bathrooms, tanks)
  • Apply final putty coat and sand for paint-ready finish
  • Repair cracks and defects in existing plaster

Week 1–3 — Basics

  • Plastering tools: trowels, floats, screeds, rules
  • Mortar and plaster mix ratios
  • Surface preparation (hacking, cleaning, bonding agents)
  • Applying scratch/base coat

Week 4–6 — Application

  • Internal wall and ceiling plastering
  • External render and façade work
  • Corner bead and edge finishing
  • Waterproof plaster techniques

Week 7–8 — Finishing & Assessment

  • Putty application and sanding
  • Crack repair and patching
  • Quality inspection and surface tolerances
  • Final practical assessment
