About This Course

The Welding & Fabrication course covers the three most in-demand welding processes — Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), MIG (GMAW), and basic TIG (GTAW) — plus gas cutting, structural fabrication, and blueprint reading.

Welders are among the highest-paid skilled tradespeople in the Gulf construction industry. R.R. Star graduates regularly pass manpower medical and trade tests to work in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait.

What You Will Learn

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and welding safety
  • Arc welding (SMAW): electrode selection, amperage settings, bead technique
  • MIG welding (GMAW): wire feed, shielding gas, flat and vertical positions
  • Basic TIG welding on stainless steel
  • Oxy-acetylene gas cutting: setting up, cutting profiles and plate
  • Joint types: butt, fillet, lap, corner, T-joint
  • Welding positions: flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead (1G–4G)
  • Reading structural steel drawings and fabrication blueprints
  • Grinding, finishing, and weld inspection
  • Gate, grille, and structural frame fabrication

Course Curriculum

Month 1 — Arc Welding Fundamentals

  • Safety, PPE, and fire prevention
  • Welding machine setup and electrode types

  • Final practical and written assessment

Career Opportunities

  • Structural welder (Nepal construction industry)
  • Fabrication welder (Gulf, Malaysia, South Korea)
  • Pipeline welder (advanced — with further certification)
  • Gate and grille fabricator (own workshop)
  • Maintenance welder at factories and plants

Frequently Asked Questions

What welding processes are covered? SMAW (arc), GMAW (MIG), basic GTAW (TIG), and oxy-fuel cutting.

Is welding physically demanding? Yes. You should be in reasonable health. There are no major physical restrictions, but the work involves heat and protective gear.

Will I be ready for a Gulf trade test? Our assessment replicates the trade test format used by manpower companies. Many graduates pass on their first attempt.

How much do welders earn abroad? Entry-level welders in Qatar and Saudi Arabia typically earn NPR 55,000–80,000/month. Certified structural welders earn significantly more.
